‘Blue Moon of Kentucky’

This will be old news to my Facebook friends, but less than a month ago I purchased a 2008 Honda Civic. You might recall how I was debating earlier about whether to get a Civic or another Altima. Well, the blue car stole my heart.

Buying a slightly-used car made more sense, because my second older car didn’t qualify for the “Cash for Clunkers” program. Moon still had the new car smell without the new car price tag. I even got the owner to come down $695 off his asking price, which put the cost below book value.

I’ve named her “Moon,” since she’s blue and from Kentucky. She is quite gorgeous – inside and out – and I’m thrilled that she got 39.2 miles per gallon on a recent road trip. She also plays mp3 cds, so I filled up a disc with 105 songs and it’s like having my own personal radio station (without the commercials, of course).

  1. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been on WordPress. My last post (skylines & cityscapes) was on June 30, 2008 so it’s been at least since then. I used to leave you comments all the time, but most likely you won’t remember me. In any case, my new years res will be to write more in 2010 so I ventured back to my old wordpress stomping grounds and decided to pay you a visit since I used to read you regularly. Needless to say, I was reminded as to why I was so intrigued by you. We lead very similar lives. I have the same struggles with Christianity and homosexuality. I’m still not welcome at my girlfriend’s parents for Christmas (or anytime) so your Christmas post rang very familiar to me. Anyway, I couldn’t hold back from posting once I got to this post. I bought the EXACT same car BECAUSE of the color in February of this year. It’s uncanny. I named her Penny Lane for my love of the Beatles. LOVE the mpg she gets. It’s been almost a year now and I still love her. Hope you still love Moon, too. ;-)

  2. @ Stephanie: I do remember you! That is so cool that we have the exact same car. I still adore her, too! A Facebook friend said that you only name the special ones, so I think it’s funny that we both named our cars. =)

Email me your blog address (through the contact form link at the top) and I’ll add you to my blogroll. Looking forward to reading your entries!

    Happy New Year!
