I hope you do, too, Brian. I was 47 1/2 years old before it became real… and I had grown up in religion and had been a ‘minister’ for 28 years.
Although I was taught (and taught others) that “god is love”, and that love was unconditional it also came with lots of conditions like…
god loves you, but if you don’t love god back the to hell with you, literally. You had to pray and read ‘the good book’ daily, give 10% of your income to the church, recruit others… or else you would ‘fall out of favor’ with god.

In 2009 I was reading a Book called The Shack and kept silently arguing with the author’s (incorrect) portrayal of god as good. “God cannot be that good”, I refuted.

While we regularly said, “God is good (all the time)” deep down I really didn’t belive it. god was a harsh judge, like a malevolent Santa keeping a record of who was naughty and who was nice, and rewarding or punishing accordingly– do good, get good; do bad, get bad. Like an angry coach demanding perfect performance, or a cop with a radar… it was a hell of a way to live.

Then, like Maya, it became real: god loves me. GOD loves me. god LOVES me. god loves ME.
It was a life-changing realization, changing the way I saw myself, changing the way I saw everyone else.

Now I want that for everyone.

Brian, I love you. god loves you. You are a TEN in every way. You have a good heart. You are amazing, a one-of-a-kind masterpicece, perfect just the way you are.
