You might have noticed the new title at the top of this page. I have been trying to come up with something new for several months, but nothing seemed to click until it hit me in the shower one day that I should use “Another Part of Me.” It is the title of a Michael Jackson song, and it accurately describes what this blog is for me – an extension of myself.
I realize I have changed the name before and then switched back, but that was because I never really felt comfortable with the name. This one is different.
I am working on procuring a domain name that reflects this change, but that is easier said than done since most of the variations I have tried are already registered. I hope to have that task completed soon.
I also hope you like the new design. It is a Tumblr-inspired theme called “Fast Blog,” and the first one that I have actually paid for. I love the features, especially the color-changing widget on the right side of the page.
Update: I’ve procured a new domain name. It is anotherpartofme.com. Please update your links!
This is why I edited almost every single post title on this blog a few weeks ago. Sentence case is preferred by most online publications and newspapers, and it appears well on its way to becoming the standard. I was growing tired of trying to figure out which words to capitalize anyway.
Title Case: This is a Blog Post Title
Sentence Case: This is a blog post title
Easier to implement and easier to read. Win win.
Windowgate 2011 – The newest set of windows are installed and look fantastic! This installer seemed to really know what he was doing, and even though we went with the same window brand the second time around, they were sized correctly and the house is even quieter.
Kindle – Honey gave me a Kindle e-reader for my birthday last week, and he was really happy to actually be able to surprise me for once. I absolutely adore the thing. The first book I chose to download is currently in the top spot on Amazon – Water for Elephants. The writing is brilliant, so I’m wondering how the recently-released movie bearing the same name will compare. Books are typically much better, aren’t they?
Birthday – We celebrated my birthday so many times over the past week that I’m a little scared to get on the scales, but I felt very loved throughout the various lunches, dinners, and parties. I am fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful people.
…I still wrote on this blog regularly.
…I had never left WordPress.com.
…I had never given this site address out to anyone I know IRL besides my partner.
…I hadn’t paid for three years of hosting and domain names.
…I had the courage to “speak” my mind here regardless of who is reading.
Just realized that I’ve been blogging for four years. Holy mackerel.
Haven’t done this in a while!
Sinuses – My sinuses are killing me. I’m sure it’s allergy related, but I can’t figure out what is making them flare up in the middle of winter.
College – Honey started back to college yesterday. He’s working on his Master’s degree and should start teaching full-time in the fall.
Facebook Friends – A few of us are getting together Friday night for another trip down memory lane. We all went to the same private school, so there should be lots to talk about.
Dwindling Down – I’ve reduced my post count significantly by deleting almost 300 entries – mainly articles that were political in nature.
